State Rep. Denyse Stoneback (D-Skokie) attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 12 for the opening of a new AMITA health clinic in her district.

AMITA Health is a faith-based health system in the Catholic and Adventist traditions and serves the Chicago area and its suburbs.

"I was happy to join a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new AMITA Health Clinic location at 3048 West Peterson Avenue. This location makes their healthcare services more accessible to the neighborhood," Stoneback wrote in a Nov. 12 Facebook post. "AMITA reaffirmed its commitment to providing compassionate care to children and adults in our community. Welcome to the 16th District, AMITA!"

In April, Stoneback urged her colleagues to vote in favor HB1092, to amend the Criminal Code of 2012 and require the Illinois State Police to submit an annual report to the General Assembly, according to North Cook News.

“I will say that I have been in contact and working on these kinds of laws for a very long time with experts,” Stoneback said, according to North Cook News. “Very rarely, only anecdotally, is any petitioner ever accused of bringing a false claim around one of these orders. This is a critical bill to prevent gun violence and mass shootings and we've been seeing one mass shooting after another every week.”

Stoneback says that the bill would help reduce firearm-related domestic violence and firearm suicides. The bill would also establish a commission tasked with raising awareness and implementing the Firearms Restraining Order Act.

On Nov. 11, Stoneback also took a moment to commemorate Veterans Day with a tweet.

"As we honor America's veterans, I recall a visit I made many years ago to the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in @ArlingtonNatl. It was an honor to be there, and it is a memory I will always treasure," Stoneback wrote in a Nov. 11 Twitter post.
