Thrilling Goals to end regulation and overtime allow Women's Soccer to win Season opener

Judson University issued the following announcement on Aug. 28

The Judson University Women's Soccer Team defeated Warner 3-2 in overtime after a thrilling set of events in the latter minutes. 

Judson trailed twice in the contest. Judson answered Warner's fifth-minute goal with one of their own in the 21st minute as Alex Wawrzyniak scored in the 21st minute. After the game stayed level through halftime, Warner took the lead again in the 60th minute. Judson trailed with 49 seconds remaining, and the Eagles were able to draw even once again thanks to a Yetzemany Solis converting a penalty. With 23 seconds remaining in the overtime period, Alondra Blanco scored off assists from Rafaella Ornelas and Thasla Barkmann to give Judson the victory. 

Judson had 17 shots on goal in the contest and 24 total shots overall. Blanco and Solis each had five shots on target to lead the Eagles. Wawrzyniak had two shots on goal for Judson. Five other Eagles had a shot on target as well. Marissa Fetters made eight saves to help the Eagles earn the shutout. 

Judson (1-0) returns to action on Tuesday as the Eagles travel to Marian University to take on the Knights at 1:00 p.m.
