City of Prospect Heights Fire/Police Commission met Oct. 28.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

CALL TO ORDER - At 4:04 PM, Chairman Hoffman called to order the October 28, 2020 Regular Fire/Police Commission Meeting at City Hall, 8 North Elmhurst Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070.

ROLL CALL - Deputy Clerk Schultheis called roll. 

COMMISSIONERS PRESENT – Chairman Hoffman, Commissioners – Fiorito, Meyer 

OTHER OFFICIALS PRESENT – Deputy Chief Porlier, Police Community Liaison Batten, Deputy Clerk Schultheis

APPROVAL OF MINUTES -

A. Approval of the September 30 2020 Revised Regular Meeting Minutes 

B. Approval of the September 30, 2020 Revised Regular Executive Session Meeting Minutes, but not for public release) 

C. Approval of the October 17, 2020 Special Meeting Minutes 

D. Approval of the October 17, 2020 Special Meeting Executive Session Minutes (but not for public release) 

E. Approval of the October 18, 2020 Special Meeting Minutes 

F. Approval of the October 18, 2020 Special Meeting Executive Session Minutes (but not for public release) - Commissioner Meyer moved for omnibus approval of the Minutes as presented; seconded by Chairman Hoffman to include Approval of the September 30 2020 Revised Regular Meeting Minutes; Approval of the September 30, 2020 Revised Regular Executive Session Meeting Minutes, but not for public release); Approval of the October 17, 2020 Special Meeting Minutes; Approval of the October 17, 2020 Special Meeting Executive Session Minutes (but not for public release); Approval of the October 18, 2020 Special Meeting Minutes; Approval of the October 18, 2020 Special Meeting Executive Session Minutes (but not for public release). There was unanimous approval.

VOICE VOTE:

All Ayes, No Nays.

CLOSED SESSION - Discussion of Personnel Matters

A. Recruit Interviews 

B. Sergeant Interviews – At 4:05 PM, Commissioners Meyer moved to go into Closed Session to discuss Personnel Matters; seconded by Commissioner Fiorito. There was unanimous approval. 

ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES - Fiorito, Meyer, Hoffman

NAYS - None 

ABSENT - None

Motion carried 3 - 0

RETURN TO OPEN SESSION – At 4:27 PM, the Commission returned to Open Session. All commissioners were present. There was a quorum.

OLD BUSINESS - None

NEW BUSINESS

A. Approval of Recruit List - Commissioner Meyer moved to suspend Approval of the Recruit List until further information is provided to the Commission; seconded by Chairman Hoffman. There was unanimous approval. 

ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES - Fiorito, Meyer, Hoffman

NAYS - None 

ABSENT - None

Motion carried 3 - 0

DEPARTMENTAL UPDATES/CORRESPONDENCE – 

Deputy Chief Porlier said that the Department feels fortunate that the training that involves the City's officers have stayed on schedule. Many training classes have been cancelled due to COVID-19. 

Community Liaison Batten said that the Police Department and Fire District participated in the Park District Spookfest on October 17. They both had vehicles there. The Spookfest had a large turnout. 

The Police Department is still trying to figure out how to handle the Thanksgiving Food Drive. It is undecided whether food will be collected and distributed as in the past; or hot meals made and given out; or gift cards distributed. She said that officers were having mixed feelings about collecting food at the grocery store. She noted that the Food Bank needs collections. The Police typically supply them with food that is left over from the Thanksgiving Drive. Officer Deol will meet with Tony's Finer Foods to discuss possible strategies.

PUBLIC COMMENT - None

The Next Regular Meeting of the Fire Police Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 4 PM, City Hall, 8 North Elmhurst Road, Prospect Heights, IL 60070. – All Commissioners said they were available for the Regular meeting. There was discussion of a Special Meeting that would need to be set up to approve the Recruit List.

ADJOURNMENT - At 4:31 PM, Commissioner Meyer moved to Adjourn; seconded by Chairman Hoffman. There was unanimous approval. 

VOICE VOTE: All Ayes, No Nays.
