State Rep. Michelle Mussman (D-Schaumburg) is promoting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a useful online resource for adults talking to children about COVID-19.

The CDC resource page provides recommendations for parents, school staff and others on how to have conversations with children about the coronavirus. The recommendations are intended to lessen feelings of anxiety and fear among children who might not fully grasp the health crisis.

“As a mother I know that parents are facing many new challenges during this time, and I encourage other parents to use CDC tips and resources to help us communicate most effectively with the children in our lives and help them understand our new normal,” Mussman said in a recent statement, as reported by Dupage Policy Journal

Among the tips the CDC has for talking to children are remaining calm, keeping the information simple, and ensuring the information is both age- and developmentally appropriate for the child.
