ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 54: With Blood Shortage, Morrison Joins Call for Donors.

54

Illinois State House District 54 issued the following announcement on March 20

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, fewer are donating blood and now there is an urgent call for help. Blood collections are down by 60% as blood drives across the state have been canceled.

State Representative Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) recently participated in a press conference to urge healthy residents to consider donating blood.

“There’s still a vital need for healthy donors to donate,” said Rep. Morrison. “I have heard from many constituents who want to do something, who want to help, and this is a lifesaving way that we call can pitch in.”

The FDA stresses that donating blood is a safe process that occurs in a highly regulated sterile environment, and blood collection staff is taking additional cleaning precautions.

Illinois residents can visit vitalant.org to find locations nearest them and to make an appointment.
