Businessevent

City of Evanston issued the following announcement on Jan. 7.

The City of Evanston invites members of the community to attend the “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Celebration and Evanston Unity" on Sunday, January 19, beginning at 3 p.m. The celebration will be held at the newly renovated Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St.

This celebration promises to be inspiring and entertaining, as it will honor Dr. King's legacy through music and speeches. Serving as master of ceremonies is Nia Dillard and serving as keynote speaker is Pastor Monte Dillard from the First Church of God.

The Evanston Children's Choir, the First Church of God's youth choir, "Young Disciples," and musical guests Anita Baker and Felicia Patton will perform. Refreshments will also be served after the program courtesy of Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center. All are welcome to stay and meet their Evanston neighbors.

Additional Martin Luther King, Jr. Day community events and celebrations can be found at cityofevanston.org/mlk.
