Village of Buffalo Grove Village Board met Oct. 28.

CALL TO ORDER
President Sussman called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Those present stood and pledged allegiance to the Flag.
ROLL CALL
Roll call indicated the following present: President Sussman; Trustees Stein, Ottenheimer, Weidenfeld, Johnson, Smith and Smith.
Also present were: Dane Bragg, Village Manager; Jennifer Maltas, Deputy Village Manager; Chris Stilling, Deputy Village Manager; Andrew Brown, Deputy Finance Director; Art Malinowski, Director of Human Resources; Katie Golbach, Human Resources Management Analyst; Evan Michel, Management Analyst; Mike Reynolds, Director of Public Works; Dave Haisma, Public Works; Fire Chief Baker; and Police Officer Meghan Hansen.
CIVICS FORUM
The Village Clerk reviewed the purpose and goal of the Civics Forum and summarized what the students have done to prepare for this meeting.
Buffalo Grove and Stevenson High Schools are represented this evening. The students were teamed up with department heads and elected officials. They were presented with proposal requests from several different departments. Each student department head presented their request before the student board, which were as follows:
Police Department – bench, picnic table, landscaping at Police Headquarter entrance
Office of the Village Manager – video highlighting the benefits and opportunities for volunteerism
Public Works Department – Mosmatic “Hurricane Pro” Undercarriage Cleaner
Finance/Community Development Department – Multi-Purpose Kiosk in main lobby
Human Resources Department – Onboarding “Welcome Kit” for new hires
Fire Department – AES Purchase/First Aid Supplies for Fire Station 26 Training Room
The student board discussed each of the requests and ultimately voted to purchase an 8’ Personalized Bench, an ADA Compliant Picnic Table and Landscaping to be placed at the entrance to Police Headquarters in an effort to send a more cordial, welcoming and accommodating impression to those who find themselves needing to conduct business at the Police Department.
The students were then presented with Certificates from the Village and thanked by the Board and the audience for another outstanding program.
ADJOURNMENT
Moved by Johnson, seconded by Ottenheimer, to adjourn the meeting. Upon voice vote, the motion was unanimously declared carried. The meeting was adjourned at 8:32 P.M.
