Northbrook Park District issued the following announcement on Dec. 26.
A journey of fun, friendship and lifelong skills await at the Northbrook Sports Center Skating School.
Skating lessons start the first week in January, offering a multi-level structure, with beginning levels for ages 3-4, 4-6 and 6-13. Skaters enrolling in winter lessons have an opportunity to participate May 8-10, 2020 in Northbrook-On-Ice—the popular annual ice show that has captivated audiences for decades. The production features dazzling costumes, spectacular sets and high-energy theatrical performances.
“The toddlers and basic-level skaters have so much fun participating in Northbrook-On-Ice,” said Recreation Supervisor Laila Schlesinger. “The little ones are always so enjoyable to watch.”
Youngsters who enroll in skating school at an early age can develop the skills they need to become Icettes—a figure skating program unique to the Northbrook Park District that is made up of three teams—Icettes, Jr. Icettes and Dancettes. The Icettes are the premier act of Northbrook-on-Ice, performing multiple dance numbers throughout the show.
“Our lessons can also lead students to explore synchronized skating and competitive skating,” Schlesinger said.
