Former state school employee Trocola paid in $12K to teachers' pension fund, could collect $497K in retirement

Former state school employee Marianne Trocola, who retired in June 2017, saved $11,716 toward a pension over 5 years working for public schools, Teachers' Retirement System of the State of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Trocola would collect as much as $496,544, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes North Cook News.

The projection assumes Trocola received $10,437 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Trocola will have already received $21,187 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the teachers' pension fund.
