Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on April 3.
Cornerstone Partners Horticultural Services Company, Inc. (CPHort) is proud to have received the Excellence in Landscape Silver Award in the category of Commercial Landscape Construction from the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA). The award is presented in recognition of outstanding achievement in improving the environment.
CPHort's redesign of an outdated, deteriorating entry plaza deck for a commercial client in Itasca won them the recognition. In addition to battling inclement weather, a suspended membrane above the executive parking garages made the engineering and implementation of this commercial construction a challenge.
The CPHort team also installed a corporate retreat area at this same property. The project consisted of a total redesign of an weathered and overgrown patio space. The goal was to provide the tenants with an outdoor area for entertainment and relaxation. The final project includes an outdoor grilling area; a high-top eating bar under an open-air pergola; a large seating area and lounge; a bocce ball court, putting green and corn hole bag sets; teak furnishings and a steel sculpture centerpiece.
The design allows for unobstructed views of the adjacent pond and fountain with a surrounding seat wall that provides semi-privacy from the shared business walking paths.
