Northbrook Elementary School District 27 recently issued the following announcement.
A Shabonee fourth grader won a state-wide essay contest sponsored by the Illinois Reading Council and the ILLINOIS READS project.
Sophia Jo is the Grade 3-4 winner of "I Love to Read" essay contest with her essay, "Reading is an Adventure!!!!" The contest highlights student writers.
Sophia will read her essay during the opening ceremony of the ILLINOIS READS Book Festival on March 16th. The festival will beheld from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Waukegan High School- Brookside Campus.
Community members, families, and students are invited to the free event to hear the winning essays read, meet 24 Illinois authors and illustrators, and take part in other activities.
