Today is the deadline for nominations for the Governor's Service Awards, according to an announcement by a commissioner on an Illinois state commission on volunteerism and community service.
Serve Illinois Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service Commissioner Char Foss-Eggemann is looking for nominees for this year's service awards. The bipartisan, governor-appointed commission is looking for individual volunteers in six categories: Adult (19-54 years old), AmeriCorps member (member of an Illinois AmeriCorps national service program), Business (a for-profit company), Senior (55 years old plus), Senior Corps Members [55 years old plus that are members of the national service programs Foster Grandparent Program (FGP), Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) or Senior Companion Program (SCP)], and Youth (18 or younger).
This year marks the awards' 10th anniversary.

A panel of Illinois judges, including Foss-Eggemann, will select the 30 recipients: A recipient will be selected for each category in each of the Commission's five regions.
Today is the last day to submit nomination forms.
