Schaumburg Park District issued the following announcement on Jan. 24.
Lace up your skates and hit the ice!
Schaumburg Park District Timbercrest Park, 120 W. Beech Drive is now open for ice skating. The rink is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday to Thursday, and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday.
The District also offers an outdoor ice skating rink, with supervised skating and a warming shelter, at Volkening Lake, 900 W. Schaumburg Road, weather permitting.
Ice skating is only available when conditions are safe and indicated by a green flag. Ice skating conditions are available at parkfun.com and updated only when conditions change. Those interested in ice skating should always check the flag at arrival before going on the ice. Red flags indicate dangerous skating conditions and the location is closed.
