Niles West junior quarterback Jack Lochner and senior volleyball player Samantha Galanopolous have been named Niles Township High School District 219 Athletes of the Month for October.
All season long, the versatile Galanopolous has served as the heart and soul for the Wolves, filling in at different positions for injured teammates and leading by example.
“She never complains and does whatever the team needs her to do each day,” school officials noted on the school’s Facebook page. “She works 100 percent in practice every day”
Lochner has brought a similar positive spirit to the Wolves’ football team. “He's our quarterback and has been our leader throughout the year,” reads a Facebook post. “His toughness and internal drive should definitely be rewarded.”
He also decided to pass football this year for baseball, according to the Chicago Tribune. It's good for the team he decided against that. He's playing both sports instead. He's that versatile.
