Illinois Family Institute recently issued the following announcement.

An informed citizenry and an active faith community are important components of a safe and free society. On the weekend of July 13th, three “Panel of Experts” events are coming to the Chicago Suburbs.

“Knowledge and love are often described as powerful and this upcoming Panel of Experts will combine the two, while tackling tough issues such as counter-terrorism, the oppression of women and the sharing of one’s faith,” one of the organizers told us.

“We can’t ignore important issues just because they make us uncomfortable. As we learn facts and become equipped to articulate them, we can address the issues with confidence and be more effective at what we’re trying to accomplish. That may be making our country more secure or raising awareness about abused girls in a far away land. Perhaps we just want to learn how to share our faith, while building bridges for others to cross. These panel events can help people address important issues from a variety of angles and that’s what they’re designed to do. We hope many will come and join us. Young people in particular will find it very beneficial,” he went on to say.

Featured on the panel is Philip Haney, a counter-terrorism expert, founding member of the Department of Homeland Security and author of “See Something, Say Nothing.” Also on the panel is Anni Cyrus, a former child bride and abused spouse, who escaped her home country of Iran, became an American Citizen and now advocates for women and girls oppressed in the Middle East. Rounding out the panel is Samya Johnson coming by way of Call Of Love Ministries, an organization that equips people of faith to share it with Muslim friends and acquaintances.

The events promise to deliver three amazing personal stories and further share expertise during a Q&A portion. Admission is free but a free will offering will be taken to support the speakers’ work. There will also be some excellent resources available.

Registration for the event is being handled by the Illinois Family Institute and you must register in advance to be seated. Details and registration may be found at IFI’s website: www.illinoisfamil.org by clicking on “Events.” You may also register by phone by calling IFI at 708-781-9328.
