Palatine FD responds to 147 fires in 2017

Palatine Fire Department responded to 897 calls in 2017 - 10.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Palatine included 147 fires - 82 structure fires, 13 vehicle fires and 52 other fires. The fire department also responded to 13 calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $736,291 in fire loss - or about $5,009 per fire.

The department also received 737 false calls, including 32 malicious calls and 705 other false calls.

The calls resulted in three civilian fire-related injuries.

The Palatine Fire Department had an annual budget of $4,452,235 in 2016.
