Bartlett FPD responds to 123 fires in 2017

Bartlett Fire Protection District responded to 456 calls in 2017 - 0.2 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Bartlett included 123 fires - 64 structure fires, 15 vehicle fires and 44 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $1,906,500 in fire loss - or about $15,500 per fire.

The department also received 330 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 322 other false calls.

Three fire service members were injured in fire-related incidents and two were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Bartlett Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $9,502,687 in 2017.

The Bartlett FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 42 active employees and 10 retired or inactive employees, was $911,153 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $11,681 for every fire in 2016.
