North Maine FPD responds to 31 fires in 2017

North Maine Fire Protection District responded to 346 calls in 2017 - 20.6 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in North Maine included 31 fires - 12 structure fires, five vehicle fires and 14 other fires.

In all, the department saw $53,575 in fire loss - or about $1,728 per fire.

The department also received 315 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 307 other false calls.

The North Maine Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $6,961,635 in 2016.

The North Maine FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 22 active employees and 30 retired or inactive employees, was $523,102 in debt as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $14,946 for every fire in 2016.
