GOP state House candidate Marilyn Smolenski is applauding the actions of Maryann Loncar, while pointing an accusatory finger at state Rep. Marty Moylan (D-Des Plaines).
"I applaud Maryann Loncar for standing up and bringing forward these allegations against Rep. Lou Lang,” Smolenski, who is running against Moylan in the 55th District, said in a Facebook post on the allegations of sexual harassment against Lang (D-Skokie) that were revealed one day after he helped broker the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment in the state House.
“It takes incredible strength and courage to come forward,” Smolenski added in her post. “Earlier this year, more than 300 women signed a letter outlining sexual harassment in Springfield. Today again substantiates an inexcusable culture within our current political class. Marty Moylan has for several years been aligning himself with Lou Lang, having received over $20,000 in campaign contributions.”

Since Loncar went public, Lang has resigned from his leadership role as deputy majority leader. Previously, similar accusations were brought against fellow Democratic Sen. Ira Silverstein (D-Chicago) by activist Denise Rotheimer. Additionally, similar claims have been made against Kevin Quinn, a political operative for House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago).
“As a first-time candidate, I am running to take on the atmosphere of abuse and harassment rampant in Springfield,” added Smolenski, a Park Ridge Republican and Women of Park Ridge board member who has based her campaign on the slogan, "Fighting for Our Families and Homes."
“Marty Moylan refuses to do what’s right, so we must," she said.
