Miller picks up endorsements from two conservative groups

Two conservative organizations in the state have endorsed Katie Miller, the Mt. Prospect Republican seeking to represent the 53rd House District.

Illinois Family Action and the Illinois Federation for Right To Life, two organizations dedicated to educating Illinois citizens on policies that protect and advocate for the sanctity of human life, have officially backed Miller, who is running in the GOP primary in the 53rd House District, which includes Prospect Heights and Mt. Prospect.

Illinois Family Action’s Executive Director David Smith said in a press release the organizations knows Miller will go to Springfield and stand up for the group on the life issue.

“It is what she has always done,” Smith said. “Katie Miller is a nurse and mother of three who will advocate for the sanctity of life and our traditional family values.”

Miller, who is vying for the seat being vacated by Rep. David Harris (R-Arlington Heights), is a longtime nurse at St. Alexius in Hoffman Estates and case manager at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.

According to the press release, Miller decided to run for office because she felt her voice was no longer represented by her party or her government, especially after the Republican incumbent in her district voted for a 32 percent income tax hike and Gov. Bruce Rauner signed legislation that provides taxpayer funding for abortion during any point of the pregnancy.

“The politicians in Springfield dug deeper into the pockets of hard-working families when they voted for a 32 percent income tax hike this past session,” Davis said. “On top of that, they want to use more of our money to pay for abortions. This extreme legislation not only violates the moral conscience of taxpayers but is an entitlement the state cannot afford.”

According to the release, Springfield needs strong, courageous, conservative leaders to stand up to the political ruling class, now more than ever.

“The leaders in our state have chosen to side with special interest groups and push for extreme leftist policies,” according to the press release. “Katie Miller will stand up for Illinois families and conservative values.”
