Even the allure of Jake Ryan, Grandpa Fred and Long Duk Dong hasn't proven enough to find a buyer for 3022 Payne St. in Evanston.

The four-bedroom red brick colonial, etched into 1980's lore as the home of protagonist Samantha Baker in John Hughes' legendary comedy, Sixteen Candles, is back on the market again, this time for $1.425 million.

The listing re-surfaced on Mar. 14; it was listed for sale for $1.499 million last June through Oct, but didn't find a buyer.

According to Blockshopper.com, which publishes property records, Beth and Stephen Miles bought the house in 2006 from Lisa and Thomas Macleay for $1.25 million, or $1.510 million in 2017 dollars.

The Miles' have paid $211,276 in property taxes on the home since 2006, according to the Cook County Recorder of Deeds. Their bill in 2015-- $21,961-- was 16 percent higher than in the year they purchased it, even though the home has fallen in value.

Property taxes are set to rise further in Evanston if the community approves a tax hike referendum for Evanston/Skokie District 64 on Apr. 4.
