Former Maine South basketball star Brad Perry continues to stand tall, becoming the first Carthage Red Men player to earn the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Freshman of the Year award recently.
The Red Men's starting center, Perry received the honored after being named second-team all-conference. It also comes on the heels of his CCIW Men's Basketball Player of the Week award in January.
The freshman from Park Ridge played two outstanding games to earn the award, including a team-high 17 points against the Augustana Vikings in a 74-70 overtime win and a 13-point, 12-rebound effort in Carthage's defeat of the Carroll Volunteers, 69-60.
Perry was also named to the D3Hoops.com National Team of the Week on January 31.
Perry started every game at center and finished the season as the team's best field goal shooter, sinking 108 of 177 attempts, or 61 percent. He finished third in rebounding, averaging 6.6 per game, and in blocked shots, with a total of 34.
