The Des Plaines Park District will have free Thanksgiving Day activities starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, according to dpparks.org.
The day's events begin with a workout for participants ages 14 and older beginning at 8 a.m in the aerobics Room at Prairie Lakes Community Center, 515 E. Thacker St. An adult must accompany any participant younger than 18.
An all-ages, adult-and-child “Turkey Shoot” free-throw contest will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Prairie Lakes gym. The adult and child each get 10 free-throw attempts to see who is the better shooter.
A flag-football game for all ages will start at 10 a.m. on the Prairie Lakes Community Center field. Signup will take place on site the day of the game. Players younger than 18 must have adult supervision.
