As voters make their way to the polls in less than 30 days, Dan Gott, the Republican candidate for the District 55 state House seat, is ramping up his door-to-door campaigning this week and talking face-to-face with voters as he promises to bring change to what he calls one of the most corrupt states in the U.S.
“I am asking voters to help me end one-party rule in Illinois,” Gott told the North Cook News recently. “It boils down to corruption and cronyism. We are one of the most corrupt states in the union.”

Gott, who has made change a central theme of his campaign, is asking voters who don’t want politics as usual in Illinois to help him turn the state around. As a political outsider, Gott continues to urge voters to elect those who have new ideas and who can bring needed reforms to state government.
“We can’t get change until we get a turnover of career politicians who refuse to listen to what voters want now,” Gott told the North Cook News recently. “Voters are tired of empty promises to turn around our state.”
Throughout his campaign, Gott has been a strong critic of not only his opponent, state Rep. Marty Moylan (D-Des Plaines), but also of House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago), calling for an end to the “absolute power.”
“A good place to begin would be to reduce Madigan’s absolute power by denying him the supermajority vote. We need to end one-party rule in Illinois,” Gott said in a previous interview with the North Cook News.
Gott has called for several areas of reform, including working for more government transparency, revamping the state’s tax code, and methodical approaches toward a balanced budget and pension reform.
“We want change now and need reforms with a balanced budget,” Gott said.
