During August, traditionally vacation time for legislators, U.S. Rep. Robert Dold (R-Libertyville) reached out to businesses, constituents and schools across his jurisdiction in over 50 local events, documenting his activities on video, ahead of the November election.

Making himself available to families, seniors and students, Illinois’ 10th Congressional District representative strived to explore bipartisan solutions for citizen protection, racial injustice and health crises at every stop, inviting feedback and gathering the resulting information on his website.

Vowing to make the community “safer, healthier and stronger,” Dold asked citizens throughout his district to unite in the interest of progress.

“Our community spoke loud and clear: We can accomplish more together than we ever could apart,” Dold said in his video. “I am 100 percent committed to building bridges, working with people in our community and putting aside partisanship to make real progress for families in our district.”

Dold, himself a businessman, told dozens of small-business owners that he understands how high taxes hurt and hosted a job fair to stimulate the local economy. Visiting several senior centers, Dold pledged to always “protect Medicare, strengthen Social Security and defend seniors from fraud.”

As the son of a schoolteacher and a father to three children, Dold also reaffirmed his commitment to education, having introduced several relevant bills in Congress. Dold's agenda also includes immigration reform, public safety and the community health issue of prescription drug and heroin abuse.

Specifically, Dold succeeded in helping to pass a bipartisan law that increased the availability of naloxone, an opiate-overdose antidote that has saved over 100 lives in Lake County alone.

“As you can see, over the last month, we’ve been busy … listening to you,” Dold said in the video. “We’ve fought through partisan gridlock to grow our economy, protect our community and strengthen national security and improve our schools. I’m committed to putting 10th District families first, holding Washington accountable, and working toward a smarter, more efficient and more transparent government.”
