Meacham Corners and two Starbucks stores on the agenda at today's meeting.

Sign variations for two Starbucks locations are on the Schaumburg Zoning Board of Appeals agenda at 7 p.m. today, March 30.

The public is invited to attend the meeting in Parker Hall, 101 Schaumburg Court.

The petitioner, Bret Skirvin, has requested sign variations for two Starbucks stores, at 1837 W. Irving Park Road and 505 W. Golf Road. Each application requests a variation to allow an electronic message board and an additional menu board.

The Starbucks stores currently feature drive through speaker boxes. The variation would replace the speaker boxes with digital order screens, which would allow the customer to verify the order. The barista's face would appear on the screen as well as the Starbucks logo and other advertising. The total size of each digital order sign is 12.26 square feet with the order screen measuring six square feet. Two thirds of the screen will be used for advertising. The proposed screens are considered electronic message boards by the village staff.

The third application, Meacham Corners, will be continued to the April 13 meeting. Staff has requested more time to work with the petitioner. The application for 1300 N. Meacham Road includes site plans, rezoning, variations and plat of subdivision, as well as a Woodfield Regional Center design review.
