The Schaumburg Zoning Board of Appeals will hear four requests from petitioners at tonight's meeting, 7 p.m. at Parker Hall.
Petitioner Evan Vlaeminck of DDR Corp. has requested a special-use permit for a Type "C" restaurant, Café Zupas, at 1422 E. Golf Road. The restaurant will be located in the Michael's and Sleepy's building. The petitioner is also requesting a Woodfield Regional Center design review and landscaping variations, including an outdoor patio on the east side of the building.
The board also will review the request for a type "C" restaurant at 204 E. Golf Road. The petitioner, Joseph Song, proposes opening Handsome Bakery at that location. The restaurant is a coffee and bakery shop with a dining area, which requires special-use approval. The petitioner does not plan to make any modifications to the exterior of the building.
The proposed Dunkin' Donuts at 2263 W. Schaumburg Road will be located in the space currently occupied by Tasty Nahari Restaurant. The petitioner, Leo Lenaghan, has requested a special-use permit for a drive-through and variations for landscaping, parking and setbacks.
The Schaumburg Athletic Association will request a special-use permit and parking variation for 800 Lunt Ave., Unit 101. The 3,800-square-foot warehouse space will be used for softball hitting and pitching, with three hitting and pitching tunnels, plus two additional areas for conditioning and stationary hitting. While there is a shortage of parking spaces, the building will be used during off-peak hours, when the other tenants have left for the day.
A fifth case had been on the agenda, concerning 1300 N. Meacham Road, but it was rescheduled for the March 30 meeting.
