Schaumburg Finance, Legal, Administrative and General Government committee to hear update on Trickster Gallery activities tonight.

The Trickster Gallery will present an informational update on its activities to the Schaumburg Finance, Legal, Administrative and General Government (FLAGG) committee at 6 p.m. today, March 22.

The committee will meet in Conference Room B at the Village Hall.

The Trickster Gallery provides a contemporary view of Native American arts and cultural education. It is the only Native-owned and operated art space in Illinois. The Village of Schaumburg provides the space for the nonprofit organization.

Updates on the gallery's activities from mid-February through March 12 will be provided to the committee. Among the highlights is the gallery being used as an early voting station from Feb. 29 through March 14, which served more than 5,000 residents of the village.

March 11 was a busy day at the gallery, with a scheduled tour for a group of senior citizens, a presentation to FBI officers on cultural sensitivity and a last-minute concert by Cody Blackbird and his band. The gallery also hosted its weekly Cultural Talking Circle, with the March 12 program discussing misconceptions and modern uses of traditional herbal medicines.

In addition to the presentation, the committee will hear recommendations regarding the approval of various contract payments, along with the roof replacement at the ballpark.
