Commission will consider a sign variation for the Culver's Restaurant tomorrow evening.

The Buffalo Grove Planning and Zoning Commission will consider a variation to the sign code at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, March 16.

The commission will meet at the Village Hall, located at 50 Raupp Blvd.

Culver's Restaurant has requested a variation to the sign code for its building at 450 McHenry Road. The applicant, Kevin Weasler of Culver's, is replacing the three wall signs on the building. The current code allows one sign. The village board approved a variation in 2001 that allowed three signs. Due to the change in signage, a new variation must be approved.

The new wall signs will be three feet, nine inches tall and eight feet wide -- which, at 30 square feet each, are larger than code allows. The signs would replace the old signs on the north, south and east sides of the building.

The commission will hold the public hearing and review photos and sign plans. It will also hear comments and concerns from residents in the area regarding the variation. After the public hearing, the commission will recommend approval or request changes in the proposed signage.

The other two items -- the setback variance at 224 Stanton Court and a text amendment regarding small cell antennas -- will be continued to the commission meeting on April 20. The commission will also hold a discussion on housing needs in the village as the region's demographics change. The main concerns are housing for the workforce, who are mostly millennials, and seniors.
