The Streamwood board met on Feb. 4 and approved purchases of vehicles for the Fire Department, Public Works and Administration.

Two ambulances were among the vehicle purchases approved by the Streamwood board of trustees on Feb. 4.

The original purchase was approved on Dec. 18; however, it included the $8,000 trade-in value of a surplus ambulance. Since that meeting, the village received an offer to buy the ambulance for $15,000. The board approved the change in price for the two new ambulances.

The board also approved the purchase of a 105-foot aerial ladder fire truck. The lightly used vehicle will replace the 1996 aerial fire truck. By purchasing the lightly used vehicle, the village will save approximately $300,000 over the cost of a new aerial ladder truck. Public Works will also receive a 2016 Ford 250 4x4 truck to replace the current 2003 F 250. Administration will also replace a sedan with a 2016 Ford Taurus. The funds for these vehicles are in the Equipment Replacement Fund. The old vehicles will go to auction as surplus.

The board also waived the competitive bidding process for tree planting services and awarded the contract to Arthur Weiler Inc. The company was the low bidder for the 2014 tree planting contract. It has agreed to use the 2014 unit prices for the new contract.

After dispensing with all business, the board went into a closed session to discuss collective negotiations regarding salary schedules. It also considered other personnel matters during the closed session.
