The Wilmette Village Board will issue a proclamation supporting the Wilmette Public Library's 2016 "One Book, Everybody Reads" program at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The library's annual communitywide program encourages residents to read, discuss and participate in activities related to the selected book. The 11th annual program has selected two books this year, both by Pulitzer Prize winning author Richard Russo, "Nobody's Fool" and "Everybody's Fool." The program culminates with the author visiting Wilmette to discuss the book. Russo will appear at Wilmette Jr. High School at 2 p.m. May 14.
A proclamation designating April as National Fair Housing Month will also be read at the meeting.
Following the proclamations and any reports, the board will review short-term rental regulations that were previously referred to the Land Use Committee. Extensive discussions have been held on this topic, particularly in reference to Airbnb rentals in residential neighborhoods.
