The Special Zoning Committee will hold a public hearing on 3232 Lake Ave. at tonight's meeting.

The Special Zoning Committee will hold a public hearing on 3232 Lake Ave. at tonight's meeting.

The Village of Wilmette Appearance Review Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. today, March 7, and review three cases before holding a public hearing on the Lake Avenue project.

The meeting will be held in the second floor training room at 1200 Wilmette Ave.

The commission will hear an Appearance Review Certificate request by the Women's Club regarding 930 Greenleaf Ave. The Women's Club would like to modify the roofline of the building by removing dormers on the north side and increasing the second floor setback. It would also construct a wheelchair-accessible ramp on the south side of the building. The original plan was approved on Dec. 7, but the modifications require approval before the exterior wall construction and roof framing can commence.

The commission will also hear Fonsecca Martial Arts' request for sign variations. The business requested a variation to display a window sign that faces the pedestrian walkway instead of the street. A conforming wall sign was previously approved by the commission; the new request is for the window sign and an additional conforming window sign facing Central Avenue.

The third case was submitted by Joseph Freed & Associates for an addition to the Edens Plaza Shopping Center at 3232 Lake Ave. The applicant submitted plans and associated documents for a 10,000-square-foot addition, which consists of two one-story retail buildings, parking lot modifications and new landscaping.

In addition to the appearance review for the project, the committee will hold a public hearing regarding a zoning ordinance text amendment for the same property. The public will be invited to comment.
