Wheeling Senior Commission holds special meeting, hears Senior Center report

Commission held a special meeting March 3 to discuss the Human Services Commission and 2016 program ideas.

The Wheeling Senior Commission met at 1 p.m. on March 3 in the Village Hall.

After hearing the Senior Center report, the commission advanced to old business.

The commission continued the discussion on the transformation to the Human Services Commission. The Senior Citizens Commission is currently made up of seven members, who are appointed by the village president and board. Each member serves a two-year term.

Four terms will end this year on June 30 and three on June 30, 2017. The commission advises the president, board, village manager and other agencies regarding issues and actions that affect the welfare of the village's senior citizens. Members of the commission are Annegret Blumberg, Martha Crost, Michael Kohen, Pat Mazjarka, Kathleen Pico, Ellen Simon and Doris Wagner.

The commission also reviewed and discussed program ideas for 2016. After announcements, the meeting concluded.

The next meeting of the commission is scheduled for April 18 in the Scanlon family conference room at Village Hall.
