Republican Schaumburg Township District Library Trustee Jillian Rose Bernas has garnered the support of a number of key GOP members in her bid to replace State Rep. Michelle Mussman, a Democrat, in District 56.

“Jillian has answered the calls of our community for new leadership in the General Assembly," Republican Committeeman for Schaumburg Township Ryan Higgins said. "In November 2016, the voters of the district will have a choice between the Madigan-Mussman machine and a real reformer. I am confident the voters will get it right.”

Bernas brings her experience as an International Relations Manager, Spanish translator, junior high school Spanish teacher in Texas, five years as an English teacher in Chile, and a State Department employee in the Fulbright and Economic and Political offices. She has a master's degree in public policy.

"Michelle Mussman has been on a mission, the question is what mission? We don’t need someone on a mission for herself," Bernas said. "We need someone willing to work hard for the best interests of the community and build opportunities right here at home.”
