New truck checkout procedure and schedule are on the agenda for tomorrow's Emergency Management Agency meeting.

The Buffalo Grove Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will meet to review the new truck checkout procedure and schedule at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Feb. 17.

The EMA meets at City Hall, located at 50 Raupp Blvd.

After reviewing the checkout procedure, the group will hear an update on uniforms. The police and fire departments will provide reports and updates, including introducing the new Northwest Central Dispatch (NWCD) EMA coordinator. Part of the NWCD's operations in an emergency includes operating the emergency sirens.

The Buffalo Grove Fire Department will also provide an update on Buffalo Grove Days. The 2015 event was held over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3 through 7, and included a fireworks show on Sunday, Sept. 7.

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Open Meetings Act (OMA) annual training will be discussed by the group. Following the discussion, the group will look at strategic planning for the March 17 meeting.

The purpose of EMA is to prepare for and mitigate the effects of local disasters, both natural and man-made. The integrated emergency management system includes a mobile support team, citizens corps council and a community emergency response team (CERT), which is made up of trained volunteers who are ready to help their neighbors and neighborhoods until emergency responders arrive.
