The Wheeling Town Center development and a variety of contracts were on the Feb. 1 agenda.
The application for a special permit and site plan approval for the Wheeling Town Center development at 351 W. Dundee Road was presented and discussed at the Feb. 1 meeting of the Wheeling board of trustees.
The Plan Commission reviewed the development over four public meetings and passed it forward to the board with three conditions of approval.
The proposed development plans include 295 apartments and 100,000 square feet of retail space, complete with an eight-screen movie theater. The approximately 16.25-acre site includes 351 W. Dundee Road, the Wheeling Metra Station parking lot and a right-of-way. Concerns expressed at the public meetings feature access to the property, traffic patterns and parking.
The board also heard agreements on a pipeline relocation reimbursement agreement and a public access easement that would connect Wolf Court to Milwaukee Ave. The one-year contract renewal with Orange Crush LLC was also heard and discussed.
Three resolutions were approved in the consent agenda: the village's participation in the Suburban Tree Consortium and planting of parkway trees; the tree-trimming contract renewal with Trees "R" Us Inc.; and the grounds maintenance contract renewal with Milieu Design LLC.
The board also issued two proclamations, which honored Dave Scanlon upon his retirement after 35 years of service and designated February as "Restaurant Month."
