The Image Advisory Commission reviewed the nomination forms for the upcoming Image Awards at its meeting last week.

The 2016 Image Awards ceremony was on the agenda for the City of Elgin's Image Advisory Commission.

The commission held a special meeting last week to review the nominations. The deadline to submit Image Award nominations was Jan. 29.

The winners will be honored on March 17 at the 24th annual awards ceremony, held at The Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way. Five award categories are available, ranging from an individual volunteer to special community projects. The focus of the awards is to honor those who have made exceptional contributions toward improving the city's image.

The commission also discussed code of conduct forms at the meeting. The city has a code of conduct, which all members of boards, commissions, committees and task forces are expected to follow. Each commissioner must sign a copy of the code of conduct agreeing to follow its provisions. If a commissioner fails to follow the code of conduct, he or she may be suspended or removed from membership.

Finally, the commission concluded the special meeting and retired to an executive session.
