The Village of Wheeling will honor longtime community leader Bill Hein by designating Feb. 1 as Bill Hein Day at a special meeting of the Wheeling Board of Trustees at 6:30 p.m. today in the Wheeling Village Hall Board Room, 2 Community Blvd.

Hein began as a volunteer firefighter in 1964 and continued to serve the village for more than 50 years as a member and chairman of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners, a village trustee and village president. Hein also founded the Wheeling Farm Stand Market and has taken an active role in the business community through the years.

The board also will discuss an agreement with the Rotary Club regarding the lease at 99-101 Wolf Road. The two-year lease will allow the Rotary to continue operation of the food pantry at that location. The food pantry benefits Wheeling residents and families with students who attend schools within the Wheeling School District. The pantry hours will be Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as of Feb. 1. Village Human Services staff will be on site on Tuesdays from 1-4 p.m. and all day on Thursdays to assist attendees with information and referrals to other services. The new lease will end on Jan. 31, 2018.

The board also will review and discuss AB Sanchez Landscaping's request for rezoning, a text amendment and approval for a planned unit development at 2800-2828 Hintz Road and 2801-2805 Jackson Drive.

The board also will hear an update on the

Chicago Executive Airport Master Plan.
