Schaumburg Board of Fire and Police Commissioners meets to discuss hiring, police eligibility

Employment is on the agenda at the Schaumburg Board of Fire and Police Commissioners meeting today, Jan. 21.

The commission will discuss several issues regarding conditional letters, eligibility lists and amendments to examinations at the 7 p.m. meeting.

The commissioners will talk about modifications to the official conditional offer letters sent to potential employees. Following the discussion and possible action, the commission will move on to the 2016 entry level police officer eligibility list. After reviewing the list, the commissioners will hold a discussion before possibly approving the current eligibility list.

There is a possibility that some candidates may be removed from employment eligibility lists after the commissioners discuss and review the current lists.

The commission will also review and discuss possible amendments to the Board of Fire and Police Commission Rules and Regulations – Examinations Original Appointments.

After hearing the remaining items on the agenda and asking for comments from the audience, the commission will adjourn to an executive session to discuss employment issues, which may include appointments, hiring, compensation, discipline or dismissal of specific employees.

A closed session may also include hearing complaints against an employee or other personnel matters.
