The Wheeling board's approval of an agreement with Cook County at its Oct. 26 meeting provides $4 million in federal funding to purchase the land, relocate the Fox Point residents and clean up the park.
The Fox Point property has flooded several times in the past, and the severe flooding at the last event damaged many homes beyond repair. The board discussed the cost of cleanup, including the onsite sewage treatment system. In the future, the land will be used for flood relief projects. The resolution for the agreement was unanimously approved.
The board also approved an agreement with the State of Illinois for improvements at Dundee Road and McHenry Road, a contract with Orange Crush LLC for resurfacing roads and amending an agreement with LaSalle Group Inc. The board also discussed the concept review of the Arlington Club Commons townhome redevelopment. The developer proposed a 55-unit urban townhouse development with base prices ranging from $300,000 to $330,000. The board agreed to send the project to the Plan Commission.
The board saw a slideshow of the Exchange Mission to South Korea before adjourning the meeting.
