Standard & Poor's AAA Rating announced at Dec. 21 Buffalo Grove board meeting.

The Village of Buffalo Grove is one of 17 communities in Illinois that have been rated AAA by Standard & Poor (S&P).

Trustee Johnson made the announcement at the Dec. 21 Buffalo Grove board meeting. The AAA Long-Term Bond Rating is the highest S&P rating, and it was awarded to the village due to its strong economy and management.

The board meeting announced the results of the recent 10th District Leadership Awards held by Rep. Robert Dold (R-IL). Buffalo Grove's own Jamie Epstein received the Community Service Award. President Beverly Sussman presented the proclamation to Epstein.

After approving the Consent Agenda unanimously, the board approved several ordinance -- including abating tax levies for the village, as well as Cook County and Lake County -- and two agreements with Gewalt Hamilton Associates Inc. for street and utility improvement projects and roadway improvement design. The agreements are not to exceed $433,000 and $97,700, respectively.

The board also authorized staff to seek competitive bids and proposals. All projects will be brought before the board for specific approvals. The village manager can approve projects under $25,000 without bringing them back before the board.

After the regular village business was completed, the board retired to an executive session to approve the meeting minutes of the previous executive session.
