III. NOMINATION AND ELECTIONS OF OFFICERS
A. Consider a Motion to elect Chairman of the Commission
Commissioner Hader nominated Dan Nallen for the position of Chairman.
Commissioner Rossi seconded. A roll call vote was taken. Commissioner Nallen abstained, all other members voted affirmatively.
B. Consider a Motion to elect Secretary of the Commission
Commissioner Nallen nominated Bill Rossi for the position of Secretary and Commissioner Nowak seconded. Commissioner Rossi abstained, all other members voted affirmatively.
IV. CLOSED SESSION AS REQUIRED
A. Consider a motion requesting a closed session pursuant to 5ILCS 120/2(c)(1)
No closed session was requested.
V. FIRE DEPARTMENT STATUS UPDATE
None provided.
VI. POLICE DEPARTMENT STATUS UPDATE
A. Personnel Update
Chief Nord reported that there are five people left on the Police Officer hiring list and one lateral opening. He has received retirement notices from three employees.
B. Police Candidate Qualifications and Testing Presentation and Discussion
Chief Nord presented the changes to the Police candidate qualifications and testing. He stated that to modernize hiring standards, we need to expand the applicant pool, enhance candidate quality, boost recruitment competitiveness, streamline the process, partner with Harper College, and address department specific needs.
Commissioner Nallen motioned to have legal review the proposed changes.
Commissioner Hader seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
