Mark Albers, President of Niles Township Republicans, said Governor JB Pritzker is prioritizing his agenda over the interests of Illinois citizens, adding that Pritzker's remarks demonstrate he would be a "disastrous President." These comments were made to North Cook News.

"Governor JB Pritzker has long prioritized his own political ambitions over the needs of Illinois, showing little regard for Republican constituents," said Albers. "As he inches closer to a potential White House bid, Pritzker's own words exposed him as he declared that Republicans ‘cannot know a moment of peace' before a New Hampshire crowd. Make no mistake: Pritzker has brought nothing but poor policy and financial ruin to his home state. If Pritzker is this harmful to Illinois, he would be a disaster for America."

According to The Hill, at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner on April 27, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker called for mass protests and criticized both the Trump administration and Democrats he described as ineffective. "Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now," Pritzker said. He added that Republicans "cannot know a moment of peace" and urged opposition "with every megaphone and microphone that we have." Pritzker also said, "We must castigate them on the soapbox and then punish them at the ballot box," referring to GOP members as "quislings and cowards."

Fox News reported that Governor Pritzker visited New Hampshire to headline the state Democratic Party’s largest annual fundraiser, drawing attention as a possible 2028 presidential contender. According to Fox News, Pritzker is known for his strong criticism of President Trump’s actions. He said, "We’ve got to be ready for the fight," describing the country’s current situation as a "constitutional crisis." Although Pritzker has not confirmed any future political plans, he is noted as the first Democrat to visit an early primary state since the 2024 election.

The Illinois Policy Institute reported that Illinois faces significant economic challenges. The state's job creation lags behind most other states with a 5% unemployment rate—the third highest in the U.S., up from 4.6% when Governor Pritzker took office. Illinois ranks 43rd in total job growth and 44th in private-sector job growth. Wage growth has been the fourth slowest in the nation since December 2018, with average wages of $33.63 per hour, placing Illinois 28th nationally. These economic struggles contribute to many prime working-age residents leaving the state due to difficulty finding jobs and sluggish wages.

Albers is a resident of Morton Grove, IL, appointed as Niles Township GOP organization's president early in 2024. He recently ran for Illinois House seat #15 and is committed to boosting Republican voter turnout in Niles Township while growing its Republican membership and communicating Republican positions on issues important to local voters.
