Illinois 8th Congressional District candidate Mark Rice commented on a recent legal development involving former President Donald Trump. "We think Dr. Carol Swain said it on Twitter… everyone knows that this case will be overturned by a higher court," Rice stated. He will face incumbent Democrat Raja Krishnamoorthi in the general election. "It further feeds the narrative that the justice system is politically weaponized now by the party who claims they want to save democracy," Rice added.

Michael Cohen is a convicted perjurer, who admitted on the stand he stole money from Trump, no FEC violations made, statute of limitations ignored, attorney client privilege violated, no exculpatory evidence allowed to be presented by defense, not a fair jury of peers, the judge being a Biden donor, and the Judge's own daughter raised and funneled $$ millions to democrats using this case as a fundraiser. So, it's clear to the intellectually honest that this was not a fair case."

According to Rice's Facebook post, he shared a screenshot of a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) from Dr. Carol M. Swain, who had responded to another post on the platform. Swain’s post read: "Bragg’s their water boy. He did what no white man could have done. The goal was to cripple Trump. Everyone knows that it will be overturned by a higher court." The post she was responding to was from Julie Kelly, who wrote: "Biden DOJ apparatchik Matthew Colangelo standing behind Bragg right now says it all." The image in her post depicted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg during a post-verdict press conference.

Former President and current Republican nominee for president Donald Trump was found guilty on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records in connection with a payoff to former adult film star Stormy Daniels regarding an affair that happened in 2006. According to CNBC, he will be sentenced on July 11, days before the Republican National Convention. Trump remains free on bail and faces up to four years in prison for each count.
