Village of Arlington Heights Committee-of-the-Whole met Jan. 16.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

President Hayes called the meeting to order at 7:15 PM. 

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: President Hayes; Trustees Baldino, Bertucci, Dunnington, Grasse, LaBedz, Schwingbeck, Shirley, and Tinaglia 

BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: None 

STAFF MEMBERS PRESENT: Village Manager Randy Recklaus and Assistant Village Manager Diana Mikula 

OTHERS PRESENT: Dave LoSavio 

A. Interview of Dave LoSavio for appointment to the Housing Commission, term ending April 30, 2026 

The Mayor introduced Dave LoSavio and stated he is very qualified to fill the position on the  Housing Commission. Mayor Hayes stated that he comes highly recommended by many members of the community and that he will be a good fit for the Housing Commission. 

Dave stated that he moved to Arlington Heights in 2018. Although he has lived in other  Northwest suburbs, he has always been drawn to Arlington Heights. Dave stated that in 2020, he left the sales job he had been in for 25 years to begin a real estate career. He has  been in the community for 5 years and asked ‘how can I bring value to the community’ and  that is how he decided to pursue serving on the Housing Commission. 

Trustees thanked Dave LoSavio for his willingness to serve. Discussion ensued on Affordable Housing. Dave stated that the diversification and representation in Arlington Heights is really important. He feels that what he has learned by being in real estate will help him with collaboration and will be beneficial with enhancing diversity and inclusion. He currently works with rentals as well as property ownership. Dave has worked with numerous veterans as well.  

Dave feels that all people must be comfortable and confident with their monthly payments. He stressed that he talks to all types of buyers about the importance of living within their means. He said he focuses on working with people to make a conservative financial decision. Dave and the Trustees discussed the importance of finding a safe place to call home for all. 

Trustee LaBedz moved to concur in the Mayor’s appointment of Dave LoSavio for appointment to the Housing Commission term ending April 30, 2026. Trustee  Schwingbeck seconded the motion. 

The following voice vote was recorded: 

9 Ayes 0 Nays 

B. The motion passed.

C. OTHER BUSINESS - None 

D. ADJOURNMENT – Trustee Baldino moved, seconded by Trustee LaBedz to adjourn.  The meeting adjourned at 7:31 pm.
