Village of Arlington Heights Board of Fire & Police Commission met June 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Chairperson Luis Ramirez-Alonso called the meeting to order at 3:13p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to establish the “A” 2023 Entry Level Police Officer eligibility list and the review and approval of the open and closed session minutes from June 20, 2023, June 21, 2023, and June 22, 2023, vote on specific eligibility of Police Officer candidates.

Roll call of members: 

Luis Ramirez-Alonso, Chairperson

Lynn Szabo, Commissioner

Dean Walsh, Commissioner

Also present were: Kelly Livingston, Director of Human Resources

Citizens to be heard: No one in attendance

Commissioner Lynn Szabo moved to review and approve the Open Session minutes of June 20, 2023, June 21, 2023 and June 23, 2023.

Motion was seconded by Dean Walsh.

Motion approved.

Roll call: Ayes: Ramirez-Alonso , Szabo, Walsh 

Nayes: None

At 3:14p.m. Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso moved to go into Closed Session per 5ILCS120/2(c) (1): appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees or legal counsel.

Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo.

Motion approved.

Roll call: Ayes: Ramirez-Alonso , Szabo, Walsh 

Nayes: None

At 3:20p.m. Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso moved to end Closed Session and go to Open Session.

Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo.

Motion approved.

Nayes: None

At the conclusion of the interviews for Entry Level Police Officer, the Board discussed all candidates and identified eleven individuals whom met the criteria and will appear on the established 2023 “A” Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility list.

Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso made a motion to approve the eleven-member 2023 “A” Entry Level Police Officer Eligibility list.

Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo.

Motion approved.

Nayes: None

Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso moved to disqualify applicant, candidate 7B, from further consideration of employment with the Police Department pursuant to the Board of Fire and Police Commission Rule, Section 2.4 Disqualifications.

Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo.

Motion approved.

Roll call: Ayes: Ramirez-Alonso , Szabo, Walsh 

Nayes: None

Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso moved to disqualify applicant, candidate 9, from further consideration of employment with the Police Department pursuant to the Board of Fire and Police Commission Rule, Section 2.4 Disqualifications.

Motion was seconded by Lynn Szabo.

Motion approved.

Nayes: None

There being no further business to discuss, Commissioner Luis Ramirez-Alonso made a motion to adjourn Open Session at 3:23p.m.
