Northwestern Basketball Unveils “Chicago’s Own” By the Players Uniform
Northwestern men's basketball, in conjunction with Under Armour, has released its "Chicago's Own" By the Players Uniform on Tuesday afternoon. The Wildcats will debut the uniform on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 1 p.m. against crosstown rival DePaul.
Northwestern is launching its sixth edition of By the Players alternates, where student-athletes work with designers at Under Armour to design elements of the uniform. This year's "Chicago's Own" set was designed by seniors Chase Audige, Boo Buie, Robbie Beran and Roy Dixon III and uses the theme and colors of the Chicago city flag to showcase a uniform that exemplifies "Chicago's Big Ten Team."
This year's "Chicago's Own" By the Players uniform is the first BTP set that will be used as a true multi-wear alternate. In season's past, BTP uniforms were worn only on senior night.
This year, the Wildcats will wear the uniform for three home games:
- Saturday, Dec. 17 vs. DePaul
- Wednesday, Jan. 4 vs. Illinois
- Wednesday, March 1 vs. Penn State
The senior class contributed elements from their favorite elements of retro jerseys. The NU logo on the chest is a throwback to the mid-1990s logo of the Seattle SuperSonics, while the flag striping down the shorts draws inspiration from the 1970s New York Nets threads.
Tickets are available for all games at the Northwestern Box Office.
