Judson University's Kenia Diaz Vega earned her Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week award of the season. Additionally, she earned her third NCCAA Athlete of the Week honor this week following an impressive week of two 20-dig performances.
Diaz Vega totaled 20 digs in a three-set win over the University of St. Francis on Tuesday and then posted 24 digs in a four-set loss to Indiana University Northwest on Thursday. She is averaging 4.76 digs on the season.
"Kenia has worked hard, her athleticism and determination to improve have been a major part of her development within our defense," said Head Coach Irick Gardner. "Kenia ended the season as the conference leader in total digs as well as digs per set, this does not include the 4 matches she sat out due to a concussion. That's at least 12 sets, which is a phenomenal accomplishment."
Judson is 17-17 overall and travels to Indiana South Bend on Tuesday to open the conference tournament. The Eagles are the No. 6 seed in the eight-team field.
