Village of Buffalo Grove BG Days Committee met Aug. 30.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Prior to the meeting a safety briefing was conducted for committee members, Park District and Village employees and festival vendors.

The meeting was called to order at 8:00

The minutes of the last meeting were discussed. Beth made a motion to accept the minutes. Rodney seconded the motion. The motion was carried.

Chairman’s Report: Paulette Greenberg/JV Springman

Paulette stated that she has spoken to the rain gods and they will be good to us.

Police: Robert Broussard/Tara Anderson/Frank Horbus

Bobby stated that they have completed their onsite security assessment. This year they will have a couple detectives who will assist from Vernon Hills. When questioned, Bobby stated that they will be marked but will be more tactical. They will be identifiable. Bobby said that other than that, they are all set and ready to go.

JV stated that he has no qualms the police department will be ready and able to take care of anything that might happen at the festival. JV thanked the Police department for what they do.

Parade: Jackie Beegun/Rodney Odelson

Cancelled

Rodney stated “Next year”.

Community Walk: Evan Mitchell

No one was present.

Mobile Com: Paul Zucker

Paul stated that he gave his instructional talk at the security briefing.

Fun and Food: Debbie Verson/Judy Samuels

Debbie stated that they have about 350 registrations. Registration will be open through Friday.

JV thanked Debbie for the program and that we are happy the Fun and Food program is live again,

Fire Department: Joe Welter

Joe stated that he was curious about the new Ferris wheel location. Palette stated that she received an updated layout with the wheel position changed at 6 PM Tuesday evening. Joe stated that he is bringing fire extinguishers. At night Paulette and JV will put them away. Joe said that he is bringing a minimal number plus one for the stage.

Sponsorship: Wendy Friedman/Mike Terson

Erika stated that three sponsors have paid to have to have a table on site. Other than that, there is no new news.

When asked, Erika said that the 3 sponsors can go wherever they want to place their tables. If they show up at the info, we are to send them to the beverage tent.

Public Works: Mike Skibbe

.Josh stated that everything is good. It is coming together.

JV stated that he appreciates everything they do. It is a good department, well run.

Food Trucks: Amanda Busch/Megan Baird/Don Geno

Erika stated that there is nothing new to report. She said that she gave Don an updated layout for Thursday and Monday.

Beverages/Beer Sales: Dani Hoefle/TJ Wilkes

Erika stated that they are good to go

Paulette asked about the Saturday Buddy Baseball and the Monday Fun and Food Event. She asked if the Park District will supply them both with ice. Erika said that as long as they will come and get it, they can have the ice. Debbie stated that she will need 5 bags for each event. She will swing by 3:45 on Saturday. Monday she will be on site,

Business Fair/Arts and Crafts: Brad Schencker

Mike stated that they are moving along. The site is marked out. He has 20 vendors

Set Up/Take Down: Public Works

Josh says all is good.

Kids Craft Tent: Lindsay Grandt/Brian O’Malley/Jimmy Mix/Jane Primack When asked, it was reported that there will be no reptile guy.

Other than that, Erika said they are ready to go.

Grilling Challenge: Jackie Beegun/Don Geno

Don stated that he has 12 grillers, with over 40 plates.

He still needs judges for chicken and pork.

Entertainment: TJ Wilkes/Mike Terson

Erika said that there is nothing new.

Technical Production: Doug Primack/Adam Moodhe

Doug stated that they are ready to go. He received the power point presentation for the ads for the video boards from the Park District.

They sent off the stage plots to Stage Works.

Marketing/Publicity: Mike Terson/Jennifer Johns/Wendy Friedman/Marc Spunt Erika stated that there may be a drone up on Friday night. They are checking volume levels during the music. Erika was informed that they need to check with the Police Department and Mobile Com before they launch it.

Clicks and Shutters: Marian Rodriquez

Marian talked to Bill, a friend of hers, who will help with photography and Adam will help out. Adam stated that he has a lot extra going on this weekend and may not be able to help.

Bill will check in at the info booth when on site.

Car Show: Marian Rodriquez

Marian stated that she has had a lot of calls on the car show. She said that she is short on volunteers. She will mix in the cars for the show. She has some prizes for the raffle When asked, she stated that she has no number of how many cars will show up. She went for all the older cars, attending 30 different cars shows.

Marian stated that she needs volunteers. Paulette stated that it will be taken care of. She said that she will need raffle ticket help. Bill will also help out with photography during the show.

JV says stay at the car show Monday and don’t worry about pictures. Check in starts at 9. Registration will be at the Info booth.

Information Booth Debbie Rybarczyk

Paulette stated that Debbie has been exposed to COVID. It is uncertain if she will be able to volunteer due to this. Marc and Jane will be there.

Carnival: Paulette Greenberg

Paulette had no further report.

Village Liaison: Mike Skibbe

Mike stated that all is good.

Trustee Liaison: Andy Stein/Les Ottenheimer

Andy says we are on track and he is looking forward to a great weekend.

Your 2 Cents Worth: All committee members

Paulette reminded everyone on Monday wear your tie dye shirts.

Paul asked for the bus service phone number.

JV reminded committee members that if you are going to drink, cover up your blue shirts. JV says he will not yell at anyone this year.

He said this is a great weekend for the community. Lets make it great. We have had a tough 2 years.

Paulette has shirts, new and used, if anyone needs one.

JV thanked everyone for their time and what they do.

Rodney made a motion to adjourn. Marc seconded the motion.

The meeting was adjourned at.8:40.
