Judson Men's Tennis Opens NCCAA Nationals With 4-1 Win Over Asbury University

The Judson University Men's Tennis Team had a decisive 4-1 victory over Asbury University. In only the second time meeting this team, the Eagles came out with just about everything they had in their deep arsenal of players to put together the win in the opening round. The Eagles came out with wins in the doubles matches by Dimitri Ingrassia & Chadd Kerrigan at the No. 1 spot and Alexandre Veltkamp & Sanskar Choubey at the No. 3 spot. The Eagles were 4-4 at the No.1 doubles spot held by William Barnes & Manuel Lopez - Videla when the doubles point was clinched and the remaining match was stopped. 

This Eagles knew Asbury was most definitely going to come out with a fight in singles and the opening games in a number of courts seemed to be going their way. The Eagles were able to settle into a much more consistent play and started to dominate the singles matches. The first singles point for the Eagles came at the hands of senior, Dimitri Ingrassia. This put the Eagles up 2-0 for the match. The second point came in straight sets by freshman, Sanskar Choubey. This gave the Eagles a 3-0 lead over Asbury. Their opponents were able to secure a win at the number 1 spot over Chadd Kerrigan, which kept them alive with a 3-1 score for the Eagles. The 4th and final point came at the hands of freshman Mathis Fauchet - Poli, who played one of his best matches of the year with a win in straight sets over his opponent to clinch the win for the Eagles.  This win puts the Eagles 1-0 in pool play with two more matches to play to earn a berth into the national championship final on Friday.
